Daniel Dominey was born profoundly Deaf and has nine years of experience teaching BSL. He is the founder of Chatty Hands BSL Community Cafe and is active at local Deaf events. His teaching is friendly, accessible, interactive and focused on building genuine confidence.

Can personal tutoring help me prepare for a BSL assessment?

Yes. Sessions can focus on the areas you need to strengthen, with personalised practice, clear guidance and supportive feedback. Personal tutoring supports your preparation but does not itself award a qualification.

Daniel Dominey

I was born profoundly Deaf, so I understand first-hand both the challenges and the joys of navigating communication. My own experiences as a learner inspired me to teach British Sign Language in a friendly, supportive and accessible way -taking the pain and pressure out of learning.

With nine years of teaching experience, I’m known for seeing how every layer of BSL interact to create the beautiful language of BSL. I turn these expert insights into clear, manageable learning through games, activities and real conversation, so my learners gain confidence and build strong foundations.

Every Zoom session is tailored to you. Whether you’re learning to communicate with family, preparing for an assessment, improving your conversational skills or simply learning for enjoyment, you’ll receive patient guidance and plenty of opportunities to practise.

I’m also the founder of Chatty Hands BSL Community Cafe in Leigh on Sea and can often be found supporting and attending local Deaf events.

Personal tutoring is delivered live on Zoom, so you can learn from the comfort of your own home.
You will need a reliable internet connection and either a laptop or tablet with a camera positioned so your face, hands and upper body can be seen clearly.

A single one-hour Zoom session costs £40.
A package of six sessions costs £210 -that’s £35 per session and a saving of £30 compared with booking separately.
