Course Practicalities

It takes place in The Mill Arts and Events Centre (SS6 7ED). The lesson is in the Meeting Room.
There is parking in the public car park next door to the venue.

The course runs on Tuesdays 7:30-8:30pm on the following dates.

Course videos for every week will be released via the WhatsApp group usually within 24 hours of each lesson so you have plenty of time to practice if you would like to before the following week.
If you do not have access to Whatsapp the videos will be made available to you via other means. -
Yes, the course fee covers all instructional materials and resources needed for the duration of the course. This course has no exams.

While we encourage attendance at all sessions to get the most out of the course, we understand that life happens. If you need to miss a session, don't worry! We provide in-house made videos for you to catch up on any missed material.

After confirming your place you will receive an email approximately a week before the class starts confirming final details and giving you access to the course WhatsApp so you can meet your course mates and ask any questions.
No prior preparation is needed just come ready to learn!

The Beginners course is excellent preparation for this course, and nothing else is needed!
Don’t worry if you have forgotten everything from the Beginners course as we will recap anything we need before using it in this course.
Previous learners have also successfully completed these courses having gained the basics elsewhere and they found the opportunities for in person interaction invaluable.
To gain the most from this course, you will need to be familiar with some basic vocabulary for topics such as food and drink, numbers, colours, animals, emotions and the weather.

If you’ve completed a basic introduction to BSL—or just need a refresher after some time away—then yes, this course is for you!
Building on Basics is designed to help you grow your confidence in a relaxed, supportive environment. It’s perfect if you're comfortable with fingerspelling and simple vocabulary on topics such as food, and are ready to take the next step in your BSL journey.

The Beginners course is designed for those with no prior knowledge of sign language, while the Building on Basics course is intended for graduates of the Beginners course or those with some basic understanding of sign language. Participating in this course is the perfect preparation for the Building on Basics course.
