Monday 28th, Tuesday 29th, Thursday 31st July and Friday 1st August 10am-11am. No session on Wednesday 30th July.
Course Overview
Sign Away Squad is a fun, four-day sign language experience for children aged 8–14 and their parents or carers. Designed for beginners or those wanting a confidence-boosting recap, each one-hour session is packed with games, engaging activities, and practical British Sign Language (BSL) skills. Taught by experienced Deaf instructors, the course also promotes Deaf awareness in a relaxed, inclusive environment - perfect for families learning together.
Topics include the Alphabet, Numbers, Animals, Colours and Food.
The cost is £50 for the child and adult. Additional children are £25 each with a maximum of two children per adult. Adults must remain present for the full session and take parental responsibility throughout. Just a welcoming way to explore BSL together and have fun while doing it!

No prior knowledge of sign language is required. Just come with an open mind and a willingness to learn!

The course takes place at Room 3, Leigh Community Centre, SS9 1SP. There is parking on nearby roads and a pay and display carpark on Elm Road which is adjacent to the community centre.

The course runs on Monday 28th, Tuesday 29th, Thursday 31st and 1st August between 10am-11am.

Course videos for every day will be released via the WhatsApp group usually within 2 hours of each lesson so you have plenty of time to practice if you would like to before the following day.
If you do not have access to Whatsapp the videos will be made available to you via other means. -
Throughout the course, you will learn basic conversational sign language, finger spelling, and vocabulary related to everyday topics such as food and animals.

Absolutely! This course is designed for beginners and is suitable for anyone interested in learning British Sign Language, regardless of prior experience or background and whether you are a language guru or your foreign vocabulary only extends to “Bonjour”.

Yes, the course fee covers all instructional materials and resources needed for the duration of the course. This course has no exams.

While we encourage attendance at all sessions to get the most out of the course, we understand that life happens. If you need to miss a session, don't worry! We provide in-house made videos for you to catch up on any missed material.
